Support Weapons in E41K
In the real world there are several kinds of Support Weapons
each with different uses and effects. With the publication of Firepower
many of these now have "official" E40K stats, however they are scatted among
several army list. I am attempting to bring all of them together here.
- Machine Guns
- Direct fire, used to suppress/attack both area and point targets. Very high fire power.
Real world range about 1100 meters. While this weapon is not listed in any army list as
such, it can be assumed that "Heavy Weapons" infantry are infact machine
gunners, depsite the fact that most are shown with some sort of rocket laucher.
- Light Mortar
- Indirect fire, used to attack area targets and targets out of line of sight. Real world
range about 8000 meters. (This is 81 mm or so mortars). This weapon is listed in the
Squats army list in Firepower (page 37) and is the same as "Big Gunz"
from the Ork Army list. The cost is based on the Squat army cost, it is 14 points for
Orks.
- Heavy Mortar/Infantry Guns
- Indirect fire, used to attack larger area targets at longer ranges than light mortars
(This is 120 mm mortars or 75 mm to 150 mm Infantry guns). This is adding in
"Light" Towed Artillery. .
- Anti Tank Gun or Guided missiles
- Used to kill single "hard" point targets. Real world range 1500 meters for
guns, about 4000 meters for missiles. The AT Gun version is the "stock" support
weapon in the Imperial army list. Cost is from page 12 of Firepower
- Tear Gas Launchers/Water Cannons/Rubber Bullets
- Used against hordes of people that you want to leave the area, but not kill out right.
Real world range about 200 meters. This is from the Adeptus Arbites army list in Firepower
(page 16)
- Anti Aircraft Gun
- Used to attack aircraft or act as a very high fire power heavy machine gun. Real range
about 3000 meters. This is from Firepower page 62.
- Light Surface to Air Missile
- Used to kill aircraft and that's about it. Real range about 6 km. This is not in any
army list, but was added to give a flak unit that can only be used for Anti Aircraft.
