Biel-Tan Craftworld Swordwind Host
Design notes:
- Farseer: Removed the option to have the Farseer mounted in a Vyper, since this
seemed inappropriate for a Swordwind detachment.
- Main Force Aspect Warriors: Increased squad size to 2 units. This allows an
overall heftier force utilizing mainly Aspect Warriors, while removing other Main Force
choices. Removed option to include a Warlock in Aspect Warrior units since this is not
allowed in Warhammer 40K, and further limits the Swordwind since it will therefore weaker
psychically than a "normal" Eldar detachment. (I recommend that the normal Eldar
War Host detachment be modified to remove Warlock options for Aspect Warriors as well, but
that would be up to the individual player.)
- Support Aspect Warriors: Retained squad size at 1 unit, representing units
assigned to augment the main force rather than just continuing to bulk up the Host into a
steamroller of assault troops. Added option for upgrade to Shining Spears, thereby
limiting Shining Spears to a supporting role, as it should be due to their rarity.
- Other Support Choices: Generally limited the size and availability of supporting
troops to accurately reflect the makeup of a Swordwind Host. A Swordwind Host will
typically be either offensively-oriented (Aspect Warriors w/ Exarchs in transports
supported by mobile tanks and/or screened with Jetbikes or Shining Spears) or
defensively-oriented (Aspect Warriors w/ Heavy Weapons supported by Wraithlords, Support
Platforms and/or screened by Guardians). It will not generally have the tactical
flexibility of a normal War Host. Removed the option to mount Wraithguard in a Falcon
since this is not allowed in Warhammer 40K. Updated points values of Support Platforms,
Wraithguard and Fire Prisms according to Firepower #1 rules.
- Chain of Command: Swapped the rank of units containing Exarchs and
Warlocks. Exarchs would have more authority in a Swordwind Host than Warlocks, so the
delegation of command would fall to them. Also allows for Hosts commanded by Exarchs if no
Farseer is included.
